Campaign rules

v1.2 d.d. 20/08/2013
v1.3 d.d. 27/08/2013
v1.4 d.d. 02/09/2013
v1.5 d.d. 04/09/2013
v1.6 d.d. 05/09/2013

The campaign will start the 6th of september.  Participation will cost 20 EUR.  For each of the first three campaign phases that you play at least one game in, you will receive a 5 EUR voucher for Hermelijn store credit.  So participation will only be 5 EUR if you play a game each month. All of the remaining participation fees go towards price suppport.  Registration begins now.  You are considered to be registered as soon as you pay the participation fee at Hermelijn and send your first army list to the campaign organiser.

The campaign will have 4 phases.  Each phase will be about 6 weeks.  Each phase has a set number of points: 750 - 1250 -1750 - 2500 (apocalypse).  The campaign will use the full 6th edition rules.

Each player can choose two codexes to participate with.  These must be codexes that can ally with each other.  During the campaign you can choose to switch from one codex to the other as your primary force or your allied force.  The allies matrix is in effect.
For the first three phases, players can use a standard Force Organisation Chart, including an allied force and one fortification.  Special Characters are allowed.  Each army list can have up to one forgeworld unit with a 40k approved stamp.  For the last phase of the campaign, players can enter with two army lists.  The first one is a 2500 point (so double force organisation chart) army list that he can play regular games with.  The second army list is 2500 points for apocalypse battles.  The apocalypse army lists are no longer limited to a force organisation chart and can include formations, super heavy vehicles and gargantuan creatures. In the apocalypse army list the restriction on one forgeworld unit is lifted.

Army lists need to be send to the campaign organiser before the start of the campaign phase.  They will be published on the Hermelijn forums at the start of the campaign phase.  Players can only change their army lists at the start of a new campaign phase or if they have lost two consecutive battles in the same campaign phase.  In the latter case, no battles can be played until their new army list has been checked by the campaign organiser.

Players will be divided into factions: The Forces of Ruin (Chaos Space Marines, Chaos Daemons and Necrons), the Taudar (Tau, Eldar and Dark Eldar) and the Imperium (Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Black Templars, Dark Angels and Space Wolves).  Since there are a larger number of both Imperium players and Forces of Ruin players, there will be two Imperium factions and two Forces of Ruin factions.  Each faction will have at least 4 players.  Each faction will have a faction captain to coordinate with the campaign organiser. Players cannot fight other players of their own faction.

The campaign will play out over 8 planets in the Jericho Reach.  Each planet will start with a point value and a predetermined faction presence.  Each faction will have a starting presence of 4 points per player in their faction.  During the campaign, the battles’ outcome will determine the presence of each faction on these planets.

There will be no fixed battles or challenge rounds.  There is no limit on the number of battles you can play.  You play as long as you find a willing opponent.  Avoiding or favoring to play against certain players is not allowed.  If any issues arise, contact the faction captains and the campaign organiser.  Players cannot play two consecutive battles against the same opponent.

At the start of each battle, both players will roll off.  The winner of the roll off can choose which planet he attacks.  The planet must currently have a presence of one of the factions present in the battle.  If a player wins a battle, he adds 1 to the score of his faction on that planet.  If a player loses a battle, he subtracts 1 to the score of his faction on that planet.  In case of a draw no scores are changed.  Factions can get negative scores on a planet.  They must overcome these before they gain a presence on that planet.  If a faction has a total score greater than the planet point value, the value of the planet is increased by the difference.  If the total score of the factions on a planet is less than the planet point value, the value of the planet is decreased by the difference.

Players are allowed to make temporary alliances and play doubles games were each player plays with his current list. A player can ally with players in his own faction or even another faction.  The result of the battle counts for all factions involved.  The allies matrix is not in effect. In a doubles game, each player has his own army with his own warlord. Your teammate’s army cannot be actively affected by you (you cannot shoot or assault it, you cannot cast psychic powers on it, it does not benefit from your army rules or warlord trait, ...) just as if you were allies of convenience. Since there are two warlords, each team can get the Slay the Warlord twice although there will still be only one First Blood.
Example: In the first campaign round two players from the Forces of Ruin A faction play a doubles game against a player from Imperium A and a player from Taudar.  Each of the players fields his 750 points list for a total of 1500 points per side.  If the Forces of Ruin A faction wins the battle, they get +2 to their score on the planet.  If the alliance wins, both the Taudar and the Imperium A player get +1 to their score on that planet.

If both players agree, they may play a Cities of Death or Planetstrike game.  The campaign organiser will provide these rules adopted for 6th edition.  These still count as a singles or doubles game, based on the number of participants.  Using these supplements is optional.  Cities of Death games can be played on the following planets: Karlack, Spite, Imbru and Eleusis.  Planetstrike can be played on the following planets: Aurum, Vanity, Imbru, Magog and Justerii.  In planetstrike battles, the defender is always the player that occupies the planet the battle is fought on.  In case both players occupy the planet, the player that got to choose the planet, gets to decide which of the players is the attacker and which is the defender.

To promote playing a lot of battles during the campaign, both factions and players can try to achieve mission goals. These mission goals are cumulative.
Players and factions can try to acchieve the following during a campaign phase
• If a faction succeeds in fighting one battle on each planet in the same campaign phase, the faction gets a +1 score adjustment on any one planet.
If a player fights at least three battles during a campaign phase against players from 3 different factions, that player gets a +1 score adjustment on any one planet he fought a battle on this campaign phase
• If all the players in one faction play at least one battle in a campaign phase, the faction gets a +1 score adjustment on any one planet that a player from that faction fought a battle on.
• If a player fights at least three players from any one faction in a campaign phase, the player gets a +1 score adjustment on any one planet he fought a battle on this campaign phase
At the start of every campaign phase the achievement progress is reset and players and factions can start again in their attempt to reach these goals. At the end of the first three campaign rounds, the faction captains can distribute the earned score adjustments.  This will be done one by one, starting with the faction that earned the most score adjustments. Mission objectives can still be attempted in the 4th campaign phase to earn player points but no score adjustments can be made at the end of the last campaign phase.

In addition, each faction captain will draw a random campaign mission his faction can try to achieve during the different phases of the campaign.  These missions will promote playing the narrative.  Some options will be:
• Destroy/prevent the presence of a specific faction on a specific planet
• Capture and hold 100% of a specific planet
• Have at least a 25% presence on a specific planet
• Have at least a 50% presence of a specific planet
• Have a greater presence than another specific faction on a specific planet
• Have a presence on every planet

The total prize support funds will be divided in at least 3 prizes.  The prizes will be drawn amongst the players that participated in the campaign.  Players can achieve player points during the campaign.  For every 5 player points (rounded down), that player gets 1 ticket in the drawing.  Player points can be gained by:
• Play a singles battle (1 point)
• Play a doubles battle (2 points)
• Play an apocalypse battle (5 points)
• Succeed in a player mission achievement (3 points)
• Succeed in a faction mission achievement (3 points)
• Succeed in a faction campaign achievement (5 points)
• Play a battle with a fully painted army (1 point)
• Paint a single model unit (2 points)
• Paint a 1-3 model unit (1 point per model)
• Paint a 1-6 model unit (1 point per 2 models)
• Paint a 7+ model unit (2 points per 5 models)
• Paint a vehicle or monstrous creature (3 points)
• Paint a fortification (3 points)
• Paint a superheavy vehicle or gargantuan creature (10 points)
• Paint 3 objective markers on 28mm or 40mm bases (3 points)
• Paint 3 random models (1 point).  This is for those that want to add models to existing units (for example other special or heavy weapon).  Only use this if you cannot use any of the above categories.

There are no painting requirements to participate in the campaign although models should be WYSIWYG as much as possible.  To earn player points with painting, the player must post both a before and an after picture on the Hermelijn forum.  Models may already have been assembled, based and have undercoats or basecoats but no detail work.  Not everyone paints the same way so there will be exceptions possible.  The idea is that progress is shown and the model is “finished” afterwards.  The models need not be in your current army list but they must be from the codexes which you are participating with.
To earn points for playing with a fully painted army, each model in your army needs to be based and painted to a three color minimum (3 different colors, not basecoat, wash and highlight with different shades).  Before playing the army, that player must post a picture of his painted units on the Hermelijn forum.

If there are any problems or questions, contact the campaign organiser or your faction captain via the Hermelijn forum.

Enkele praktische afspraken:

Je mag me je army list al bezorgen maar betalen kan pas eens Nelly en Philippe terug uit verlof zijn.  Ik zou die army list graag in het volgende formaat krijgen:
FoC slot [totale kost unit] - unit naam (basis prijs), upgrade (kostprijs), optie (kostprijs), ...
