The Shadow War: Hermelinus Prime league will use the full Games Workshop Shadow War campaign ruleset. Each player can enter with more than one kill team as long as each kill team belongs to another faction. Players can enter the league or start with another kill team at any time. Players can retire kill teams allowing them to start with a new kill team of the same faction.
After each battle players are required to send in the results of the battle to the league organiser via PM (facebook or forum). This should include how many promethium caches were found by each player, any advances gained, any promotions gained and any resupply adjustments.
To enter the shadow war league send in your kill team armylist as a PM (facebook or forum) in the following format:
Space Marine Kill Team Umbra Avium [1000]
Scout Sergeant Corvus (200), Boltgun (35) [235]
Scout Adivarius (100), Sniper Rifle (40), Camo Gear (5), Red Dot Laser Sight (20) [165]
Scout Accipiter (100), Sniper Rifle (40), Camo Gear (5), Red Dot Laser Sight (20) [165]
Scout Gregem (100), Boltgun (35) [135]
Novitiate Scout Rostrum (75), Bolt Pistol (25) [100]
Novitiate Scout Alis (75), Bolt Pistol (25) [100]
Novitiate Scout Cornix (75), Bolt Pistol (25) [100]
Army lists will be posted on the forum in dedicated topics per kill team.
Every kill team will start on rank 0. You can only challenge kill teams that are one level higher than you on the rank chart. If you win a battle against a higher rank opponent, you switch places on the kill team rank chart and your kill team gains an additional promethium cache. If there is a blank spot on the level above you on the rank chart, you can instead challenge an opponent with the same rank as you. If you win a battle against a same rank opponent your kill team gets promoted to the empty spot on the next rank.
Challenges need to be declared on the forum and need to be confirmed by the league organiser. Each round of challenges will sort the players by rank and number of promethium caches (low to high) and players can challenge in that order. Challenging is optional each round. The initial round of challenges will be randomized. New players that join after the first round of the league will be inserted immediately in the challenge order. You cannot challenge a kill team that is already challenged this round. You cannot challenge one of your own kill teams!
In the example below, the blood angel player can choose to challenge the space wolf, the ork, the genestealer cult, the raven guard or the salamander player. If he challenges and wins the battle against the space wolf, the ork or the genestealer, he joins the raven guard and the salamander players on rank 1. If he challenges and wins the battle against the raven guard or the salamander player, he will take that place on rank 1 and his opponent will go down to rank 0.
If the kill team at rank 3 didn't get challenged this round, that kill team gains an additional promethium cache (to a maximum of 20). When the kill team at rank 3 has 20 promethium caches, it can challenge any player on rank 2.
The campaign ends when a kill team wins a battle after having earned 20 promethium caches.
